State Source Water Protection : Guides to Developing Source Water Protection PlansThis program was produced for three different states (Illinois, Ohio and Indiana) to aid them in creating a program to protect their water sources from contamination threats. Most of the work I did on the Source Water Protection Guide was in developing a single source editing system that linked Adobe InDesign to Flash using XML. In text based programs we often develop a hardcopy version of the program in PDF. InDesign was the tool of choice since it gave us the layout flexibility we needed and the ability to export our content in XML. This allowed the content experts to instantly update their work to the interactive product instead of slowing down development sending content changes to the developers. This streamlined workflow and reduced the possibilities for inconsistencies between the interactive and print versions of the Guides. It also allowed us a framework that was easily reused for each state version of the Guide along with our next project, Point-of-Use Osmosis Systems: Complying With Arsenic Regulations in Small Drinking Water Systems. I was involved in illustration and editing responsibilities using adobe inDesign as well.An example of the illinois guide can befound at the following link:Illinois : http://tacnet.info/swp/il/default.htm
